So... people always ask me how nursing is going and how Charlie is doing with "latching on." I usually reply by telling them he is a natural "sucker " and that he loves breast-feeding. (I think Charlie is a "boob guy," just like someone else I know!) He came out with his head turned to the side, mouth wide open ready to eat! He took to a bottle right away and he goes crazy sucking his pacifier. Well, I was holding the little guy yesterday and he started sucking his fist. I guess he got tired of that so he moved down to his arm. Just a few seconds later I looked down and, well... see for yourself! I never thought my little man would get his first hickey at such a young, innocent age. Let's just hope that is his first and it will be his last.

1 month.
I am trying to keep up the family tradition of sending out a monthly picture of our little guy. I cannot believe that Charlie is already a month old. His favorite activities include: eating... sleeping... eating... pooping... eating... and more eating, He is a tank! I am not sure why I am surprised that he loves to eat so much, after all, so do Adam and I. Also, since he is named after his grandpa, it is fitting that "snacking" is his favorite pastime. We are loving parenthood. There have been some late nights and a little adjusting, but it is so worth it. Charlie has such a sweet spirit about him and we are so happy he has joined our family.

Happy Father's Day!
(from the Menlove's blog)
I had a few people at church ask me if today was especially hard. I have thought more about all the fun/funny things about dad. I especially thought of him when we passed out cinnamon rolls today to all the dad's. It reminded me of how much he LOVED sweets. Finding him many times in the kitchen sneaking something, thinking no one saw or heard him, is now a treasured memory. I think Steven will carry on the tradition because he had the most cinnamon rolls of any dad at church today!

This picture I posted is the only digital one I have of dad, since we don't have a scanner, but there is a funny story behind it. Allison was only a few weeks old and dad was her first babysitter (he was so proud of that). As I was getting ready to leave he yelled for me to come into the living room. I really thought something was wrong. He said, "you've got to get a picture of this" Relieved that he just wanted a picture, I thought he was talking about Allison (of course)... but no, he was talking about Roxy trying to get on his lap. He thought it was the greatest thing! I just got the camera and took the picture, but I remember being a little upset that he worried me in the way he called me into the living room and all to take a picture of Roxy. I am very glad I took the picture!

Visiting Grandma.
Last week Adam and I were looking for an excuse to get out of the house. We decided to drive up to Pasadena and surprise mom at work. When we got there mom had just walked out of the office, so we sat Charlie up on this chair in the waiting room with the vase of flowers next to him. Mom walked in and totally lost it... she was so happy!!! Charlie was happy too, look at his smile in the picture with mom.

Our Little Man!
Charlie had a doctor's appointment yesterday. He is 9 lbs. 1 oz. and 22 inches long. He is already too big for a few of his outfits. I thought this picture showed off his "manliness." It almost looks like he is trying to flex for the camera.
This is Charlie's passport picture we got today. We are going to Los Cabos, Mexico next month for vacation. I thought this picture was too cute!

Visits from the cousins
A couple days after being home Charlie had his first visit from his cousins Allison, Zachary and Mr. Cuddles. Nora's sister Jen brought them down from Monrovia for the afternoon. They had a fun time hanging out.
Cousin Alli with the perfect pose.
And just this past weekend Charlie's cousin Reese came down from Colorado to visit. Adam's sister lives in beautiful Commerce City just outside of Denver and spent a couple days with us in Huntington Beach. They got along most of the time, until they had to share the bouncer for some photos.
Charlie's first wet willy.
Staring contest......go!!
