Her story:It all started last Tuesday at my 8:45 a.m. doctor's appointment. I had been feeling so good, too good to be thinking labor would start anytime soon. My doctor checked me and I was 3cm and 80% efface. Cool I thought, I wanted to just let the baby come on her own but my mom was leaving for Texas on Friday. She was going to help my sister who just had her baby on Monday. I figured I would just ask to be induced and then have the baby before my mom left town... WRONG! My doctor informed me that the hospital was over-crowded and she could not schedule an induction. Anxiety, determination, and panic struck. I was going to have this baby before my mom left...
Shortly after my appointment I called my friend Jolene and asked if she wanted to go for a walk. We walked down to the beach at a pretty fast pace then up a large hill. 5 miles later... I was pooped. Then, I helped get things together for Jenny's baby shower that night. I have so many pregnant friends that we wanted to get a picture of everyone. (There would have been about 6 more pregos if we took this picture a month ago.) By the time the day was over I was exhausted... but still not feeling labor pains... that hit the next day. By Wednesday I was cramping and feeling lousy. At 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning the contractions came and by 6 a.m. they were ten minutes apart and we were off to the hospital...

I called my mom on our drive to the hospital... she was going to make it! I got all checked-in but before I was officially admitted the nurse told me they needed to monitor my contractions. Well, my contractions had stopped!! (Plus I was still 3cm and 80% efface, even after my power walk) The nurse said that happens a lot to women in labor, they get to the hospital and suddenly the contractions go away... but hey usually come back. Then she proceeded to tell me that if they did not come back she would have to send me home. Luckily, they came back in full force. As I was being monitored the baby had a drop in her heart rate and the nurse came in letting me know that because that happened I just got my ticket in to be admitted. I think June was just helping me out because her heart rate stayed normal the entire time after that.
This was my view from the hospital bed. I must say, that the hour or so I was having contractions and waiting to get my epidural I really could care less about the view I had. I appreciated the view later, once I was pain-free. Here I am so content with my mom and sister by my side.
8 a.m. epidural, 9 a.m. doctor breaks my water (4cm, 90%), 11:30 a.m. - 8cm, 100% efface, 12:45 - 10 cm, ready to push. So, the nurse came in and told me I was ready to go but that my doctor was in a surgery. She said I could wait or just have the on call doctor come in. I decided to wait... 50 minutes later the doctor arrived. After a few pushes our little lady arrived.
Baby June gave Charlie a new Mickey Mouse doll and suddenly, he loved her!!!
...but I think he might have loved Mickey a bit more.
...or maybe he loved playing with Grandma on the spinning chair more!
But sweet Charlie boy did make a valiant effort to bond with his baby sister.

That is seriously awesome makes me kind of look forward to having kids someday. One day...one day....but ya I cant wait to see my new niece! She looks so much like charlie when he was born...craziness
Oh wow! Look at those two carseats in your car! Can you believe it? She is adorable. They looked they could be twins in those pics after the baths. I hope you guys are adjusting and enjoying every second:)
I love birth stories! So glad everyone looks healthy and happy--and so glad that you had your mom and Jennifer! Maybe someday I'll get to have a mom or sister with me when I give birth. That would be so great!

I LOVE newborn cross-eyed pictures. They're so funny! I think it's great that you do the month-to-month pictures next to a stuffed animal. I wish I would have thought of that before my kids became enormous.

Two is so fun. It's a bit challenging in the beginning, but just wait...when you see how June's face will light up every time she sees Charlie...it just melts your heart!!
Okay, so I am a lame blogger. Allison just told me last night you had your baby....2 months ago!!! Sorry about missing that. Congrats. She is absolutely adorable. I hope I can see her sometime. We are actually coming to California in July, maybe somehow we can get together!!!
